Scojo Foundation: Scaling Up in India
When Scojo Foundation decided to expand to India, we faced a completely new set of challenges. Working in a country with a massive population, expansive geographic distribution areas, and a challenging infrastructure required us to stay flexible and adapt our model to the local landscape.

Our solution? A Franchise Partner Model that allows us to build on existing distribution networks to reach deep into the communities that need eye care and opportunities the most.

This new approach has allowed us to greatly increase our efficiency not just in India, but to other sites in South Asia, Africa, and Latin America. As a result, we can launch and get up to speed in a new country faster than ever before.

Scojo Foundation: Visionary Social Entrepreneurship
This short video provides an overview of Scojo Foundation's mission and progress to date. Interviews include co-founder Dr. Jordan Kassalow, Director of Programs Neil Blumenthal, and Latin America Regional Coordinator Greg Van Kirk.

In just four years, we've gone from an idea to working programs in four countries: Bangladesh, El Salvador, Guatemala and India. And in the last year, the number of Vision Entrepreneurs trained and glasses sold has increased exponentially.

More importantly, Scojo Foundation has helped to create and sustain livelihoods for our Vision Entrepreneurs in the developing world while providing vision care for those in need.

Scojo Foundation on NBC Nightly News
Our Guatemala program was recently featured on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. A news crew interviewed co-founder Jordan Kassalow and went down to Guatemala to capture footage of the program in action.

Scojo Guatemala: An Overview
Our Guatemala program has had great success on several fronts: locating and training a steady group of vision entrepreneurs, establishing outreach into rural communities, and building a relationship with an eye-clinic in the capital for referrals.

Recently, two vision entrepreneurs opened the first Scojo Foundation store in the town of Nebaj. This allowed the two women, who had both recently become pregnant, to continue their work in a less stressful manner. It also provided local residents with a permanent location to obtain regular services.

Scojo Foundation co-founder, Jordan Kassalow, recently visited the Guatemala program during the first vision campaign co-sponsored by Scojo Foundation and the Visualiza clinic in Guatemala City.
